5 Natural Home Remedies for Ganglion Cysts

A ganglion cyst is a very small encircling lump or bag that is full of sticky and thick fluid. This cyst can usually happen in a tendon or joint and can come in different sizes depending on the patient.

The tendons and joint are located in the wrists, ankles, feet and fingers and those are the places where you can most usually find a ganglion cyst. Depending on the individual the symptoms and issues surrounding it can vary from mild to severe.


The most common symptoms of a ganglion cysts are discomfort, pain, tingling and burning sensation, numbness, muscle cramps, weakness and so on. The symptoms can vary depending on the size of the cyst. Yet the real cause of this ailment is unknown.

Natural Remedies for Ganglion Cysts

  1. Black Tea Bags

The black tea can provide acidic effects and can cure a ganglion cyst. This blend of tea has anti-inflammatory properties that can reduce the growth of the cyst and stop it from worsening further.

Soak a black tea bag in hot water for 5 minutes and then place the bag directly on the afflicted area and let it work for 10 minutes. You can repeat this a few times a day for best results.

  1. Frankincense Oil

This oil has powerful astringent properties and can successfully reduce the size of ganglion cysts and even prevent them from happening again. Applying a few drops of frankincense oil directly on the afflicted area can reduce the size and soothe the pain. Add a couple of drops and secure them with a clean cloth bandage. Repeat this process every day for better results and always use a clean piece of cloth.

  1. Aloe Vera

Aloe vera is a versatile plant that can treat many issues. In this case, it can reduce the welling of the cyst and soothe the pain. Extract the aloe vera gel from the plant or buy an aloe vera gel and apply this gel on the afflicted area and wait for about 20 minutes. Rinse with lukewarm water and repeat this a couple of times daily for 3 days straight.

  1. Arnica Oil

Arnica oil can be very good at providing anti-inflammatory properties, easing the pain and reducing the swelling of the ganglion cyst. It can also speed up the healing process because it can boost the general blood flow. Mix arnica oil with coconut or olive oil at 1:1 ratio and use it to rub the afflicted area gently. If your skin is sensitive you may feel a burning and if you see any visible issues stop using this oil immediately.

  1. Epsom Salt

Epsom salt can be an amazing healing remedy for many issues including ganglion cysts. Dissolve 1 tablespoon of Epsom salt in 2 cups of warm water and soak the afflicted area for 30 minutes. Repeat this procedure daily in order to reduce swelling, soothe the pain and discomfort.
