Cut and Control Portion Sizes

If you are looking for ways to lose weight, portion control is your friend. Burning more calories than an individual consumes is something that some struggle with. However, you do not have to starve yourself in order to lose the weight.

Portion Sizes

Consider trying these tricks to help cut and control portion sizes.

Start each meal off with a large glass of water. Drinking water before meals will help an individual eat less by filling the stomach with water. And many times, we feel hungry, but in actuality, an individual is hungry.

When we are dehydrated, often the stomach will rumble and grumble, causing us to think that we are really hungry when we are not. And if you eat out of boredom, have a large glass of water with lemon to curb those cravings.

Cook with as many vegetables as you can. Pack it full of color and taste in one punch. Stir fries, pastas, soups, salads, sandwiches and more can all be loaded up with vegetables to help fill us up while getting the nutrients that we need.

Many do not realize it but the color of the plate does have an impact on how much we eat. Those who eat on a plate that does not contrast with the food on it will eat 22% more food.

Do not base a meal on carbohydrate. Instead, make a meal and if you must, add carbs to it. Have a bowl of fruit, topped with a bit of granola to give it some crunch. Do not make the mistake of adding too many carbohydrates to a meal.

And finally, keep portion in check. It is fine to have cravings, but limit the size. Never eat out of the container, just place a cookie or two on a plate and call that amount good. If you eat out of the bag or box directly, you are not able to judge how much you are eating and will surely overeat.
