Home Remedies for Dry Skin
If you suffer from dry skin, you know what a pain it can be. Itchy skin that can be red, painful, and may even bleed from time to time. But there are many different natural home remedies that can solve this issue.
First off when taking a shower, opt for warm water and not hot water. Hot water will only dry the skin out more by stripping the skin of the natural oils. Keep showers relatively short as well. Opt for no longer than 10 minutes.
When showering, use soap free products. Soap can be very drying to the skin. Look for a moisturizing body wash that is not antibacterial, as this will only dry the skin out more.
Olive oil is great for the skin. This oil can help to soothe the skin. Olive oil may be applied in many ways. It can be used under a moisturizer to give extra help to dry skin.
It can be applied to the skin half an hour before a shower to help lock in moisture, or it can be combined with brown sugar to create an all natural scrub for the skin.
Simply mix equal parts of olive oil and brown sugar, then rub into the skin gently while in the shower, then rinse off with warm water.
Coconut oil is another wonderful moisturizer for the skin. Coconut oil can be applied directly to the skin after a shower or bath. It can be used in place of regular lotions and creams. It is easily absorbed into the skin, leaving the skin supple and soft.
Honey is a wonderful moisturizer. Before showering, an individual can rub honey over dry skin and allow it to penetrate for 10 minutes. Then rinse the honey away in the shower to reveal softer, moisturized skin.
