In the Mickey D’s production the usage of fake meat was gossiped for long time but now it all went public.

The famous chef Jamie Oliver promotes healthy food all over the world and fought many battles with large companies. One of these fast food chains that commercialize hamburgers, McDonald’s, had lost the battle which was long time fought. Jamie Oliver demonstrated the bad ingredients and the recipe for the hamburgers, so the company said they will change the ingredients without any fuzz from the media.

Jamie used his popularity to explain how harmful the meat is for people and he presented it on television shows, interviews and documentaries for several years. He says that ammonium hydroxide is  used for washing the beef fatty parts and was also used for the filling of the hamburger.

According to the hamburger enthusiast, this food is considered as not edible and cannot be consumed by humans. Oliver as a fighter against all fast food industry, claims that we eat something that was made for dogs as a cheap food and then processed for people to eat.

The usage of low quality meat and ammonium hydroxide are very harmful for the people’s health. Jamie invented a coined phrase which was known in every country for the food processed with meat waste.

Oliver in his children demonstrations shows them how nuggets are produced. When you select the best parts of the chicken, all that remained was the inner organs, skin and fat and that is what is used for the fried products.

As a reply to all the bad press and Oliver’s letters, the franchise manager for McDonald’s in Latin America, Arcos Dorados company, negated the procedure as it was never practiced in the region. This can be said for the Ireland and UK products as well since they use meat form local farms.

However, the usage of ammonia was ended in the Taco Bell and Burger King products. Ammonium hydroxide was used in the food industry to prevent the appearance of microbes in the meat, so the inedible meat with this chemical can be used by McDonald’s.

The most horrifying and disturbing fact was that the substance is approved for usage in the production procedure by USDA and the costumers are not fully aware of the chemical presence within the food.

The McDonald’s company claims on their official website that the meat is cheap because they feed many people every day so the production is bigger and the price for the meat is low but with best quality.

But, the question if the pink slime is the best they can present in the US, then why they can afford even better products in Latin America and Europe? How can they produce better products now after the press and the Oliver’s demonstration in the US?

The franchise will never answer these questions since they denied the Jamie’s campaign as a causer for the change of the recipe. McDonald’s on their site declared that they have stopped using the beef filling within the burger patties.
