Recently, a new report showed that the US imported 30 % of its garlic from China in 2014. What the problem is the quality control. Based on some studies, the Chinese garlic producers use law-forbidden pesticides.

They use pesticides to boost their products. There are many kinds of pesticide used, among them are parathion and phorate that have a few effects of devastating.

What can we do now? You can avoid the toxic garlic by learning about how to recognize or spot if your garlic has been given pesticides. The easy way to avoid toxic garlic is to avoid Chinese garlic! You can note the following things:

  1. Chinese garlic is usually lighter and less bulbous than other country’s garlic.
  2. Chinese garlic is usually poorer in taste than other country’s garlic.
  3. Most Chinese garlic doesn’t have roots and stem as Chinese farmers usually remove them in order to make their garlic lighter and safer when being shipped.
