She is the oldest female bodybuilder and this year she celebrated her 80th birthday.
You might have seen the commercial image with two elderly ladies, one sitting in a wheelchair and taking great number of medications, while the other is standing, has excellent posture and has happy face. This fit and happy woman resembles Ernestine Shepherd who is very different from many elderly people.
Being an eighty years old woman, she inspires everyone and is an active competitive female bodybuilder who holds a record in the Guinness Book of World Records.
Ernestine was born on June 16th, 1936 but she did not begin to exercise since her younger age. She started this activity after the death of her sister who suffered from brain aneurysm. This was a period much later in her life.
In first place, she never cared about her health and wellbeing, but after finding out she has high blood pressure, her awareness of staying healthy raised immediately.
Today, she has a whole new lifestyle and daily routine. She wakes up at 3 am and follows a diet which is controlled in calories and consumes mostly chicken, vegetables, eggs and plenty of water. Every week she runs over 80 miles or 130km.
